  1. What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of professional advice I ever received was disguised in an old quote from a professor urging us to form a study group. They said, “We can only see so far by standing on the shoulders of giants,” almost in passing. But the more I thought about it and heard the quote elsewhere, it really stuck with me. In other words, teamwork makes the dream work—whether it’s collaborating with those on your team or building on the ideas of those who came before you. Without learning from and working well with others, we don’t see as far as we otherwise could. And, of course, it’s a good idea to form a study group.

  2. Who or what inspires you?

I take a great deal of inspiration from studying history. Whether it is military history or what our ancestors were grubbing on for their diet, I always find it humbling to learn what the people who came before us experienced and what hardships they overcame. It helps me be grateful for the life I live and inspires me to leave a better world for the generations that follow.

  3. What’s your favorite hobby or pastime?

Games! I love getting out, staying in, and playing games with my friends. Whether it is soccer, hockey, darts, Dungeons and Dragons, or some video games, I just love playing games with my friends and family and taking a break from everything else for a while.
